Volkswagen Tiguan reviewed

Since its launch in 2007, the Volkswagen Tiguan has sold over 2.8 million units.

In the 2017 edition, Volkswagen tried to make it look a bit different from the Golf on which it was based.

The 2017 Tiguan is bigger, better looking and more desirable than ever before. The length of the car has grown by 6 cm and the wheelbase by 8 cm.



There are flashes of the Passat in the new Tiguan, namely the new chromed grill, unique headlights and the defined  shoulder line that stretches back to the taillights. If you take the top model, VW will throw chunkier bumpers and larger alloy wheels.
With the new looks, the weight of the new Tiguan has been reduced by up to 53 kg.



The first thing you will notice when you drive it is the quietness of the engine. It’s smooth and comfy on the road.
However, off road is where the Tiguan becomes more of the beats it’s meant to be.

Thanks to the 4-motion four wheel drive, is’t easy to switch to the terrain you are on and to engage the hill descend.

Those who take the off-road to another level, can rely on the 360 camera to give them a helping hand in a tricky situations.


The petrol engines in the new Tiguan range from the 1.4 TSI BlueMotion Technology 92 kw to the mighty 2.0 TSI BlueMotion Technology with a 162 kw output.
The 2.0 TDI 4MOTION engine will be available with the 7- Speed DSG transmission.



Manual aircon, electric front and rear windows, cruise control, front fog lights, leather multi-function steering wheel, connectivity package (Bluetooth and USB interface) and roof rails are among the standard kit fitted on the entire range.

On the gadget front, the big talking point is the Active Info Display, which is basically VW’s version of Audi’s ”virtual cockpit” instrument cluster.
Extra options you can add will range from R350 for the smoker’s versions to R 17,999 for the R-line kit.

All in all, the new Tiguan is not only a family SUV for the town. The new Tiguan is also for an off-road family road trip.
